Job Description

SNI Companies are partnered with an insurance company in Mercer County who are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper with knowledge of GAAP.  The employer is willing to train on their software Accpac and on the niche insurance industry accounting.  This type of accounting is not like any other.  It is a niche just like fund accounting would be! The accounting being performed is based on insurance claims.  Some claims are open for years and until all the cash is distributed properly, they cannot close the books.  Basically their year-end close may not be for this year.  For example, they are just now closing a 1987 year end claim account. 

The office is a nice modern office setting, comfortable Business casual environment!

Degree: Must have a 4yr or 2yr Accounting degree, CPA is not required

Software Required: Advanced MS Excel (Spreadsheets & Pivots and must be a quick user as will be copy & paste)  

Other Software Skills willing to train:  Accpac and MS Access

Duties of the position:

  • Bank reconciliations for up to 7 accounts
  • Reconcile using Excel spreadsheets/Excel reconciliations
  • Make journal entries into the Accpac system
  • High volume claim analysis work.  You will be analyzing insurance claims and creating the trail balance
  • Will extrapolate data  and use Pivots and create charts on the claims analysis being conducted
  • Will conduct quarter and year end closings to include all aspects of GL accounting (AP, AR, Reconciliations etc.)
  • Will be expected to create vouchers
