A non-profit in Mercer County is looking for a Senior Loan Officer for at 3-6 months , potentially longer.
The individual will be responsible for for providing support to Loan Manager relative to the company strategic goals and growth plans. Cross-sell all credit union products and services. Has expanded lending authority as authorized by the CEO.
Qualifications: College degree and/or 10 years related experience in consumer loan underwriting and approvals. Individual should not pose a threat to the health or safety of self or others.

Essential Job Functions: - Member Service (Internal and External): Answer telephone/in-person inquiries and process financial transaction in courteous and efficient manner. Handle member complaints that require an escalation to a Senior Loan Officer to resolve.
- Interview and obtain credit bureau reports on loan applicants, verify debts, and calculate debt-to-income ratios.
- Process all incoming loan requests from “cradle to grave”. Approve or deny loan applications based on analysis. Operate with substantial credit authority and make recommendations on loan approvals that require Loan Manager/CEO approval.
- When a loan is denied, explain reasons for denial in a professional, courteous manner. Work with member to provide recommendations or alternative options for other possible way to secure a loan in the future.
- Verify the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications.
- Complete loan documents and oversee disbursement of loan proceeds
- Assist Loan Manager in maintaining a positive sales/service environment, responding to member inquiries at all stages of the overall process to ensure borrower is a lifelong member.
- Responsible for training of new loan officers. Provide assistance or guidance to less senior loan officers to include offering solutions to those members that are credit challenged.
- Assist Loan Manager with special projects as needed including launching and training on new company products.
10. Make recommendations on improvements in daily operations within lending area.
11. Prepare Subordination Agreements to be reviewed and notarized by Loan Manager.
12. Review consumer dispute verifications received via e-oscar on weekly basis and
submit universal data forms when necessary.
13. Research loan posting errors and make recommendations to Loan Manager on
corrections to be made.
14. Abide by the terms and conditions of the Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure
Agreement.
15. Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, and
by-laws and operational procedures.
Non-Essential Functions: - Assist Loan Manager with new and existing lending compliance regulations
- Reconcile products on CUNA WebEFT (credit disability/life insurance, GAP) and
post to members’ accounts as appropriate.
- Reconcile Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) from State National website and post to members’ accounts as appropriate.
