STAFF ACCOUNTANT NEEDED FOR CLIENT IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA - Remote to start - then probably hybrid role - need to be within 45 minutes of office.

This is a contract-to-hire role, typically converting after 4 months.

The Staff Accountant performs a variety of bookkeeping and accounting tasks, applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records.

  • Performs a variety of general accounting support tasks which include:
    • accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit card transaction processing, monthly credit card transaction and bi-weekly out-of-pocket processing and management, bank reconciliations, general ledger entry and reconciliation, support ledger maintenance, data entry and reporting.


Duties -

  • Enter invoices, cash receipts, bills, purchase orders, credits and other accounting documents or records in company system.
  • Researches and resolves accounts receivable and accounts payable invoice discrepancies.
  • Ensures all vendors have current W-9's and when applicable COIs loaded in accounting software.
  • Assist in the reconciliation and creation of annual 1099's for vendors.
  • Ensures all monthly payables are recorded or appropriate accruals are processed.
  • Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable, general ledger).
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis; including but not limited to Petty Cash, Postage, Gift Cards, EZ Pass, and credit card. Responsible for researching and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reconcile and process monthly credit card statements and bi-weekly out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with travel and credit card policies.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports for credit card and out-of-pocket transactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Requirements:

    • Associates degree in accounting or finance preferred.
    • 2+ years in accounting environment preferred.
    • Ability to work under pressure and complete projects in a timely manner
    • Strong analytical, organizational, administrative and communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in speech and writing, with customers, staff, managers, supervisors, contractors and clients.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity and ethics.
    • Although this position is based in Fort Washington, PA, travel to other offices may be occasionally required.
    • Experience working with Microsoft Great Plains and Excel.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
