Payroll Specialist
Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Longmont, Colorado (Hybrid Position)
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our client's team. They are a public accounting firm specializing in bookkeeping, payroll, and individual and business tax preparation. This hybrid position offers a blend of remote work and in-office collaboration.
Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will be primarily responsible for processing payroll, managing payroll taxes, and generating reports. This role also involves bookkeeping tasks, such as preparing monthly financial statements and reconciling accounts. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Payroll Manager and Lead, leveraging their expertise to deliver timely and accurate payroll and financial services.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll and quarterly payroll reports.
- Prepare W-2s and 1099s at year-end.
- Collaborate with the Payroll Manager and Lead to migrate payroll clients from QuickBooks Desktop to Paylocity.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
- Manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) for clients.
- Contribute to team efforts on larger projects to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop and Paylocity is required.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with payroll taxes and pre/post-tax benefits.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred, or the willingness to attain a CPP in the first year of employment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
