SNI Companies has teamed with a valued client on a search for a Payroll Tax Specialist working a in a hybrid role.The Payroll Tax Specialist will work on a small team and handle weekly payroll processing in New Brighton, MN!
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation for this position starts at $36 an hour. Insurance, and other benefit options that are offered include:
Contract Length: 6–18 months (long-term contract with potential extensions)
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly multi-state payroll for approximately 2,500 employees, alternating duties with the Payroll Specialist.
- Handle off-cycle payroll processing as needed.
- Maintain and update employee records to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with prevailing wage calculations and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Record benefit and standard deductions, including garnishments and union benefits.
- Communicate effectively with branches and external clients, providing timely responses to inquiries.
- Prepare and analyze weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll reports, including ad-hoc reports as requested.
- Review and reconcile employee tax records to ensure compliance.
- Ensure adherence to company audit procedures and internal controls.
- Monitor and manage the payroll email inbox, addressing inquiries and issues promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros preferred).
- Strong payroll tax experience with a solid understanding of multi-state payroll regulations.
- CPP certification preferred but not required.
- Experience with payroll processing for a large employee base.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and external clients.
This contract role offers a long-term opportunity with potential extensions based on performance and business needs.
