POSITION TITLE: Account Manager DEPARTMENT: Marketing
LOCATION: Chattanooga, TN or Oklahoma City, OK DIVISION: Kemper Benefits
SUPERVISOR: Director, Distribution Services FLSA STATUS: Exempt
Position Description:
This position serves as a primary point of contact for our account client base.Implements clients sold by the Territory Sales Managers/Regional Sales Managers.This role has a heavy emphasis on relationship development and continuously provides each contact with anticipatory service by quickly responding to questions and issues.Candidates must possess effective leadership, strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.They must also have a professional image, solid integrity and a commitment to customer service, client cross-sell, participation growth and renewals. Moderate travel required. Position will be based in Chattanooga, TN or Oklahoma City, OK.
Business Objectives/Major Responsibilities:

  • Implements clients sold by the Territory Sales Managers/Regional Sales Managers
  • Manages account activity and develops relationships with all account contacts within our customer base in order to conserve and grow our business. This includes in participating in a successful initial launch of the account as well as ongoing account maintenance serving as the internal liaison for all account issues.
  • Develops annual account service plans for each account and is responsible for the timely execution of these plans.
  • Assists in the development of creative marketing ideas; coordinates with Marketing Communications to offer ideas regarding copy, design and distribution of marketing pieces.
  • Focuses on providing excellent customer/client service in addition to having responsibility for renewals, premium persistency, selling additional products to client and employee participation growth.
  • Provides reports to accounts and analysis of marketing campaigns within each account.
    • Continually analyzes project and program results, providing periodic summaries and updates to management.
    • Maintains a thorough record of the results of all active campaigns, reporting those results to management.
    • Develops on-going strategic recommendations for accounts.
    • Maintains documentation of account activity.
    • Monitors and communicates premium payment issues to producer/client
    • Works closely with claims professionals on unique situations and communicates with client/broker accordingly
  • Actively researches the marketplace, organization, customer & outside sources for new ideas and opportunities.
  • Active in developing those opportunities into partner relationships.

Other Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Works with internal departments to coordinate problem resolution and/or preventive maintenance measures.
  • Works with the Director of Distribution Services on major projects.
  • Provides back-up to other Team Members as needed.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Candidates must:

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent in related work experience; Business Management or Marketing degree preferred
  • Must have prior group insurance Account Management or Client Relationship Management in the employer voluntary worksite marketing arena
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Be extremely dependable and flexible
  • Be forward-thinking in decision making and actions; assist in creating opportunities for the future
  • Be able to work independently, however collaboration and team work is critical
  • Be customer centric
  • Be able to navigate through general account management issues with the client and come to acceptable resolution to exceed customer expectations
  • Have strong computer skills with emphasis on Salesforce, MS Excel, Access, Word, Power point and Outlook; ability to quickly learn new systems/processes
  • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task; ability to manage and prioritize multiple client needs daily
  • Have good problem solving and follow-up skills
