Our client, a well-established, privately held, oil and gas company, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist! The AP Specialist will be responsible for entry of accounts payable items, electronic payments, manual check requests, as well as monitoring, processing, and applying purchase order invoices within dedicated purchase order system. The Accounts Payable Specialist role will not have direct reports and will report directly to Accounting Manager.

AP Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Prepare checks and electronic payments on a weekly basis, obtain proper approvals, audit the checks to the invoices, and distribute the checks.
  • Maintain accurate files and documentation, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practice.
  • Remain current, on a weekly basis, with the processing of all supplier invoices, including both third party and intercompany.
  • Resolve vendor inquiries regarding payment information.
  • Charge expenses to all accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and expense reports and recording entries.
  • Knowledge of Lease Operating Expense (LOE), Capital and Authority for Expenditures (AFE) expenses associated with allocations and Council of Petroleum Accountant Societies (COPAS) regulations along with Federal and State leases.
  • Proficient in data entry and data management.
  • Complete other special projects and assignments as needed.
  • Process employee expense reports on a weekly basis.



Education/Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years accounting experience in upstream oil & gas preferred
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency



License/Certifications:

  • Oil & Gas software experience, i.e. WolfePak (preferred); BOLO Systems; Excalibur (Suite of Oil and Gas Software), etc.
