Assistant Controller
Summary/Objective:
Assistant controller is accountable for plant-level responsibilities including cost accounting, bill of materials, general accounting, business analysis, financial reporting, and sales management. Will also liaison with financial staff, as required.
Description:

  • Supports key cost accounting including maintenance of accurate cost accounting, developing and updating product costing, inventory valuation, and provides variance analysis and explanation including recommending corrective actions.
  • Supports manufacturing operations by developing, reporting, and analyzing operating results in areas such as product profitability and inventory management.
  • Assist with input of bill of material and price change, and ensure bill of material and costing accurately reflect production operations.
  • Assist with audits of bills of materials to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly.
  • Assist with monthly close, month end cut-offs, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements, account analysis, and reconciliation's including intercompany.
  • Assist with various reserves calculations, and fixed assets.
  • Assist with physical inventory and cycle counts.
  • Assist with reporting monthly and quarterly financial results, annual operating plan, and strategic planning.
  • Provides detailed financial analysis of operations, and assists with complex decision making and financial initiatives.
  • Recommends benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of departments.
  • Assist with documentation of procedures, controls, and work flows.
  • Assist with internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded and results are accurately reported.
  • Attend daily plant meetings as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by controller.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA is a plus).
  • A mixture of Accounting and Manufacturing knowledge a plus.
  • 8+ years of finance and accounting experience with 2-3 years minimum in a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid knowledge of cost accounting is highly required
  • Experience and proficiency with ERP Cost System (also prefer Hyperion skills)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel (Pivot Tables, Filters, etc.)
