Associate Director - Marketing

Manages a product or service portfolio throughout its life cycle. Utilizes understanding of market requirements/opportunities and leading initiatives to define strategy, develop, deliver and manage products and/or services to contribute to the achievement of corporate objectives. Collaborates with cross-functional groups including Scientific Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Production etc. to execute product strategy.

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Marketing at our Wilmington, MA location.

  • Work with operations, sales, and marketing staff to develop and implement strategies, portfolio development plans and positioning and messaging plans consistent with both corporate and business unit branding platforms.
  • Collaboratively manage the global marketing team to develop and produce corporate Discovery marketing collateral representative of services offered across North America, Europe, and Asia.
  • Develop market position and define market strategy to gain market share through competitor takeaway or increase current business.
  • Integrate the Discovery portfolio into marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Ensure maximum marketing visibility and value based promotion.
  • Develop and implement tactical marketing plans to support and achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Manage the marketing function to ensure high level of responsiveness to customers and the sales organization.
  • Develop relationships with key industry thought leaders and create a pool of knowledgeable go-to clients and ad-hoc market feedback and research.
  • Work closely with both the corporate marketing and sales teams to provide input to the creation of marketing strategies and to provide leadership to support the execution of the operational objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and utilize financial and CRM tools to identify potential sales opportunities (multi-site corporate accounts, dormant accounts, declining revenue, etc.)

  • Develop, implement, and manage processes that evaluate the effectiveness of all marketing programs/projects and quantify payback in terms of leads generated, new customers, and sales levels.


  • Education: Bachelors (BA/BS) or equivalent in scientific discipline. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Experience: Seven to ten years of related experience or equivalent in a combination of marketing, product management, communications, and business management positions within a technical environment (e.g. biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device company, or laboratory). Sales and international experience a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
