Staffing Now is hiring for a Bilingual Housing Counselor
This is a temp to hire position
This position requires an individual who is flexible to work in a teamwork environment and able to cross-train and assist in other areas within the department when needed. Prior experience in the administration of housing and/or social service programs helpful. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience), a minimum of 3 years of experience in in customer service and administration or social services is required.
Responsibilities include case management, Calculating rent payment, client interviews, and reviews. Duties include working with challenging client/tenant situations; managing data entry and database tracking; statistical reporting; following guidelines and requirements of Rental Assistance funding sources; attending required meetings and trainings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meet with and review clients for consideration into eligibility for housing program
  • Assess current clients for program re-certification
  • Educate tenants and landlords on their respective responsibilities relating to housing programs
  • Assist tenants in the development of ADA accommodation action plans;
  • Conduct market research regarding competitive housing rates
  • Assist tenants in the resolution of issues that may be identified during property re-inspection to ensure successful inspection and continued rental assistance eligibility;
  • Prepare file content to ensure all required forms, notes, and documents are included in tenant records within established deadlines providing monthly statistical data as required;
  • Work collaboratively to ensure the timely and effective processing of rental assistance requests;
  • Ensure completion of duties in accordance with related regulatory processes and procedures;
  • Provide information and interact with community members, landlords, housing authorities, to assist individuals in their search for or retention of affordable housing;
  • Conduct home visits and fieldwork as necessary;
  • Assist in staff training relative to housing assistance eligibility guidelines and processes.
