Job Description

Experienced buyer needed.
Job duties:
  • Responsible for obtaining quotes for components, purchasing, and tracking schedule of R&D programs, including materials, tooling, and any other R&D purchases according to priority of R&D program schedule.
  • Works with Suppliers, Engineers, and Manufacturing to understand technical requirements for components, tooling, and gaging. Take feedback from suppliers and relay to Engineers to help reduce cost and establish production capabilities of supplier
  • Sources new suppliers and establishes partnerships with those suppliers
  • Reduces costs, development time, and production lead times with suppliers
  • Establish minimum component levels from supplier for production hand off from R&D to operations
  • Maintain schedule for R&D programs
  • Experience working with and sourcing new vendors
  • Experience identifying and purchasing tooling and materials
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Excellent computer skills, must be able to use Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, etc…
  • Professionalism and confidence
  • Ability/Willingness to travel
  • Deep knowledge of purchasing tools, negotiation methods, and business processes/communications
  • Working knowledge of assigned commodities, materials, and related production interfaces/processes
  • Working knowledge in blueprint reading, statistics, ASME/ANSI Y14.5, product costing, and engineering/technical specifications
  • Working knowledge of cost improvement/containment topics and techniques
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project etc.)
  • Strong technical abilities in business composition and mathematics
  • Strong analytical abilities with a high attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Proven ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills
  • Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Business experience preferred . Purchasing experience and new product introduction experience strongly preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a Technical discipline. Associates Degree with sufficient work experience will be considered
  • Professional experience encompassing the majority of the following fields - purchasing, logistics, supplier quality/development/management, cost estimation/analysis, and/or business process planning (includes internship or co-op experience)
