Job Description

We've partnered with a leading international Energy company headquartered in downtown Houston to hire a contract Financial Reporting Analyst.

The Financial Reporting Analyst serves a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of external financial reporting information for this organization and its subsidiaries. Primary responsibilities include preparation and/or review of (i) statements of cash flows for entities subject to periodic reporting, (ii) earnings per share calculations for entities whose securities are traded in a public market and (iii) financial statement variance and trend analyses. The Financial Reporting Analyst will also perform research on and develop position papers to support the Company's significant accounting matters.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare and/or review statements of cash flows for entities subject to periodic reporting
  • Prepare and review various month end close reports, financial statements and analyses in order to validate accuracy and compliance with internal accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S. ("GAAP")
  • Prepare and analyze variances in operating results, financial position and cash flows throughout the Company's enterprise and provide meaningful analysis of trends, variances and key metrics for management
  • Perform and/or review calculation of earnings per share for entities whose securities are traded in a public market
  • Prepare memoranda documenting the Company's application of accounting policies and principles to specific transactions or events
  • Assist with quarterly review, including the compilation and preparation of supporting schedules, work papers and financial reports required to support external and internal audit requests
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements
  • Coordinate and effectively communicate accounting matters with various departments throughout the Company

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Public Accounting experience, (Big 4 preferred )
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience w/financial statement analysis and analytical reviews
  • Oracle/ERP
