Internal Auditor

The Internal Auditor is responsible for working as part of a team to conduct internal audits of varying complexity and scope on all operations of the organization, including financial, operational and compliance.

The Internal Auditor is expected to:

  • Schedule and perform financial, compliance and operational audits.
  • Prepare and complete audit work programs that appropriately address key risks and test key controls.
  • Prepare and complete various audit test procedures to evaluate controls and summarize results.
  • Conduct process interviews; document process narratives that identify risks and controls; test key controls for effectiveness; identify and document audit findings (including control weaknesses, missing controls, and process improvements).
  • Identify and recommend changes to potential weakness in various controls and procedures.
  • Identify situations where potential for fraud may exist.
  • Assist in the creation of the annual audit plan.
  • Assist External Auditors during their annual audits or upon request.
  • Special projects and other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of equivalent business experience required.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize a high volume of multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to context, substance and detail while meeting goals and strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively build and extend relationships.
  • Shows initiative with a "can do attitude" and the ability to implement changes that will improve workflow.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office.
  • Insurance knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethics in handling confidential information.
  • Willingness to continue education in insurance, accounting and auditing standards.
  • Willingness to continue developing business, industry, technology, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Potentially up to 25% of travel with majority of travel within Northeast United States.
