Job Description


The Junior Accountant reports to the Senior Accountant and is responsible for a full range of accounting tasks with an emphasis on Accounts Receivable - billing, Accounts Payable and employee payroll.
Key Responsibilities

  • Process invoices and other tasks associated with weekly billing with accuracy; including: correcting, processing and reconciling invoices per contracts and manager instructions; communicate discrepancies to management
  • Oversee the overall collection process including: follow up and collection on past due accounts; maintain documentation, communicate with clients in a professional and timely fashion
  • Responsible for complete A/P process; verify for accuracy, seek approval and code correctly
  • Run payroll process in partnership with Human Resources
  • Prepare and proof managerial reports; complete standard weekly/monthly management reports including ad hoc reports
  • Adheres to firm administrative policies, professional conduct and practices
  • Back up preparation and assistance with posting daily cash receipts, including daily bank deposits
  • Process employee expense and reimbursement checks, and ACH payments/file maintenance
  • Accountable for self-review and second review of all critical reports, i.e. payroll and AP
  • Prepares member and at-risk payments as directed by Senior Accountant
  • Assist in researching and resolving accounting issues
  • General backup to the Senior Accountant as needed
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by management


Skills and Competencies

  • 4 year degree in Business or Accounting
  • 0-2 of relevant experience in accounting; experience in a professional services firm a plus
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and respects confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel and Word, and typical accounting software products
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and remain organized in a fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and be dependable with a high level of integrity, ability to manage multiple projects, and pay attention to detail
  • Exceptional ability to work independently and as part of a team, interact appropriately with all levels of staff and management, and identify and manage multiple projects
