Job Description


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
The Medical Biller will be responsible for the following:

  • Review and verification of client insurance:
  • Check Client Eligibility daily for total client census; For Medicaid clients, review of Client's Spend Down and/or Determination status. Responsible for notifying the client in real time by letter that we are aware of their spend-down status and that payment is expected for services until their obligation is met.
  • Perform on a daily basis verification of Client Authorizations for Medicaid
  • Prepare Authorizations and follow up
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable Duties:
  • Perform Medicaid bi-weekly billing
  • Download and post 835 remit for Medicaid and Medicare
  • Post Medicare Denials
  • Post Commercial Insurance payments
  • Reconcile Client payments
  • Other A/R research/follow up as required
  • Perform financial interviews as needed
  • Provide Front Desk coverage as needed:
  • Provide coverage as Support Staff and complete all duties related to front desk coverage as identified in the Support Staff to-do-list.
  • General:
  • Cooperate with work team/agency in accomplishing strategic objectives and goals
  • Attends all staff meetings, in-services and department meetings
  • Must be flexible to meet the needs of the agency including working evenings and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree or a professional certification in business/medical billing or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of healthcare billing experience.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of behavioral health and principles of managed care.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
