Job Description


Our client, a Leading Retailer located in the Mid-cities area, has an immediate need for a Payroll Accountant! The Payroll Accountant journals the payroll and reconciles the payroll accounts as well as some other large balance sheet accounts. The Payroll Accountant will not be processing payroll. The Payroll Accountant must understand the ins and outs of payroll without actually running payroll for the company. The Payroll Accountant must have a strong reconciliation background!

SUMMARY
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, monthly accruals, and maintaining assigned schedules.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare the following in accordance to the financial statement close checklist
    • Journal entries with supporting documentation
    • Balance sheet account reconciliations
    • Monthly accruals
  • Maintain assigned schedules
  • Maintain EBIX database
    • Vendor certificates of insurance
  • Add/change vendors in Oracle



ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs monthly financial and analytical review
  • Prepare requested audit documents
  • Maintain working relationships with internal customers by responding timely to all inquiries by researching and analyzing data as needed
  • Adhere to proper accounting methods, policies and principles



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or equivalent experience in Accounting
  • At least 3 years increasing experience in accounting and knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP software
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, utilizing excellent time management to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed ability to use computer and software applications and intermediate/advanced Excel knowledge
  • Detail and goal-oriented, good organizational skills and a strong ability to multi-task and complete projects on time
  • Read, write and communicate in English professionally in a business environment
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screen prior to starting
