Job Description


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Sets up and reconciles voluntary payroll deductions, prepares reports, identifies and researches exceptions.
  • Prepares memorandums to communicate garnishment deductions orders, to employees, which include child supports, tax levies, student loans, WRIT of garnishments, etc.
  • Completes appropriate forms for special wage/salary payouts and adjustments.
  • Researches, analyzes and resolves payroll-related problems or questions.
  • Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations utilizing knowledge of Mistras, state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Compiles financial, tax and payroll reports for both internal and external purpose; submits to manager for review.
  • Coordinates and interacts with federal and state agencies on issues pertaining to employee compensation, general deductions, benefits and retirement.
  • Compiles and analyzes payroll data, makes recommendations and determinations and prepares related reports.
  • Year-End payroll activities including balancing and reconciling totals prior to printing W2s'.
  • Performs Stock Transaction Processing.
  • Union contract implementation and processing of union payables for monthly payments.
  • Perform compliance for unclaimed property payroll checks.
  • Acts as mentor to Payroll Specialist 1; assists with questions, and/or issues.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert for complex payroll features; thoroughly understands multi-jurisdictional payrolls.
  • Assumes responsibility for more complex pay groups/companies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Audit Sox Reporting for assigned payrolls.
  • Reconciles payrolls prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Provide ad hoc reports.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of payroll experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent training
  • CPP designation preferred but not mandatory
  • UltiPro Software Experience required
