JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Production Planner is responsible for the execution of the master schedule and for maintaining effective inventory levels and transactional accuracy. Ensure MRP (Materials and Resource Planning) system integrity through understanding, maintenance and proper use of planning parameters. Use expertise and problem solving skills to guide the manufacturing team and coordinate with Account Managers, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Customers and Suppliers to ensure sales and delivery targets are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Coordinate with cell leaders to create daily/weekly production schedules and set priorities that meet the customer demand as planned in the master schedule.
  • Partner with cell leaders to communicate delivery commitments to account managers weekly.
  • Work closely with personnel in all levels of the organization to ensure production plans are executed in accordance with the master schedule.
  • Provide support for customer calls as required by the customer account manager in the form of information and/or presence on the call.
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities as required by the engineering manager.
  • Maintain status of current jobs and expedite parts as necessary.
  • Responsible for material releases and issuing work orders to production.
  • Responsible for material traceability in the storage and issuing of raw material and details to WIP (Work In Progress) and FG's (Finished Goods).
  • Monitor and maintain inventory to ensure target levels are maintained, surplus levels do not occur and inventory turns targets are met.
  • Responsible for weekly cycle counts and to lead the annual physical inventory.
  • Monitor and audit inventory transactions and planning parameters on a regular basis.
  • Interface with purchasing to ensure timely delivery of raw material to meet schedule by monitoring material availability and usage.
  • Monitor the results of changes and levels of all inventory types (RM (Raw Material), WIP and FG's), recommend and take action on modifications required to meet inventory goals.
  • Attend production meetings as required



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Working knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Office particularly Excel.
  • Proficiency with materials and/or manufacturing planning using automated MRP/ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Sound knowledge of inventory management techniques.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (aerospace preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) Certification preferred.
