Job Description


Quality Assurance Inspector

Job Purpose: The Quality Inspector performs any/all requirements to check, audit and document any product which will be sold to a customer. Inspection shall also work with Engineering to support the Reverse
Engineering function establishing dimensional variances within each drawing dimension.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects & Checks (received) parts from suppliers, i.e., part specifications, dimensions and characteristics on the part's drawing, documentation requirements as specified in the purchase order and MQI.
    • Prepares the Inspection Method Sheet (IMS) for the parts.
  • Receives and further verifies supplier records and documentation including but not limited to:


C of C's, First Articles Reports, Final Inspection Reports, Material Certs. And Process Certs.

  • Fills out receiving inspection template "Check List"
  • Records inspection details in "Vendor Tracking" Log.
  • Can read and interpret part drawings to accomplish accurate inspections
  • Understands the First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) process and requirements.
  • Has a working knowledge of AS9100 requirements.
  • Compares identifying information such as count, weight or description of incoming/outgoing shipments against Sales Order, Purchase Order, Shipping documents, drawing nomenclature. This is not an all-inclusive list.
  • Ability to perform Source Inspection at local suppliers, based on complexity of part and ACD limitation of gages.
  • Verifies Part Marking requirements per the design drawing in accordance with FAA Regulations.
  • Capable of properly using standard inspection equipment, i.e., depth gage, micrometers, dial bores, air gages, Vernier's, gage pins, gage blocks, thread gages, fixturing, manual CMM, optical comparator, etc..
  • Can set-up and properly use the following, but not limited to: gage blocks, dyer gages, swing gages, thread gages, dial depth gages, Diatests, set rings, wire gages, height gages, customer supplied inspection gages and fixtures.
  • Detail oriented (thorough) and able to communicate across functions (- good communication skills, good listener - positive presence and appearance)
  • Working knowledge of SPC and GD&T
  • Has working knowledge of statistics to derive supplier ratings (e.g. Quality, On-time Delivery), and AS/ISO required metrics
  • Is able to use excel to create tables, spreadsheets, graphs, etc.…
  • Documents instances of discrepancies on appropriate forms
  • Participates as the Quality member on the Material Review Board (MRB).



Skills Required:

  • Hands on experience with a 2-3 year minimum experience in a manufacturing facility performing an Inspection function,



  • Three or more years working in a Gage and Calibration department.
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers before, during and after Source Inspections.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Software; Word, Excel, and Adobe, among others.
  • A working knowledge of statistics, highly preferable.



Education:

  • A two (2) year Associates Degree in Business or Engineering along with 1-3 years minimum experience in a manufacturing facility performing these functions
  • A High School (or Vocational School) diploma along with 5 years minimum as an Inspector in a Manufacturing environment.
