Senior Accountant, External Reporting

SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant, External Reporting is an integral part of the External Reporting team. The candidate must be an organized, highly-motivated team player with strong initiative, communication skills and comprehension of generally accepted accounting principles ("GAAP"). The candidate must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. The Senior Accountant will be exposed to a broad range of financial activities at a publicly-traded company, including preparation of Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy and registration statements, offering circulars, and standalone statutory, compliance, and other financial statement filings.

Desired Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Research and gather information to be used in the planning, preparation and submission of external reporting-related SEC filings.
  • Preparation and review of eXtensible Business Reporting Language filings
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of statutory, local and benefit plan financial filings
  • Research GAAP accounting issues related to new accounting standards
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Preparation and validation of financial reports, schedules and supporting account analyses for the Internal Audit, Tax, Investor Relations and FP&A departments, as well as for external auditors
  • Preparation of asset retirement obligation calculation and entries and stock-based compensation schedules and projections
  • Assist with special projects as required by management to support ongoing needs of the business

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong GAAP and SEC reporting skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and respond timely to unexpected changes in priorities
  • Proficient in use of advanced Excel; proficiency with Workiva a plus
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with other functional groups, personnel at various levels, and colleagues in different countries
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present requirements, ideas and suggestions clearly
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external colleagues
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions
  • The Senior Accountant, External Reporting must be flexible as there will be workweeks that require more than 40 hours to ensure the Company's reporting responsibilities are met

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in either Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • Between 3-5 years of audit experience/SEC reporting experience required
  • Proficiency in the conceptual and practical application of GAAP required
  • Working knowledge of financial reports and disclosures required
  • Working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements preferred
