Job Description:
Performs moderately complex to complex tax accounting activities related to preparing federal, state and local tax returns and reports. Prepares comprehensive tax work papers, performs account analysis and maintains tax-related records. Develops high level of knowledge of federal and state income tax laws. Develops relationships with assigned business units related to the collection and analysis of information important to tax return preparation.
Responsibilities:
Remains current on all applicable tax withholding laws, regulations and requirements in each active
location.
- Coordinate and administer multi-state payroll tax compliance.
- Calculate, document and validate tax files, remittances and ensure accurate settlement of daily tax
deposits.
- Prepare regular payroll tax filings to IRS and state agencies, monthly, and quarterly.
- Maintain and execute work plan to produce accurate, timely year-end information for W-2 and
1099M, through data scrubbing.
- Identify bank reconciliation discrepancies and work with finance staff to execute a solution.
- Manage tax notice response process.
- Establish and maintain excellent communication with tax agency staff at local, state and federal
levels.
- Improve processes that will either eliminate or reduce tax notices.
- Prepare correspondence to address tax notices and other communications received from clients and tax agencies to resolve outstanding issues.
