Tax Accountant

US Tax Accountant will be responsible for the following:

External Reporting:

  • Preparation, management and review of provisions and financial disclosures for all domestic and Bermuda Life Insurance Companies, (IFRS, US GAAP, NAIC, Bermuda Stat)
  • Assist with provisions and financial disclosures for non-life companies where needed.
  • Assist with annual true-ups and cash settlements
  • Assist with valuation allowance analysis /attribute utilization analysis and tax planning initiatives where applicable.
  • Assist with transaction analysis and supporting documentation; (ex: Reinsurance Transactions, etc.)
  • Assist with annual audits where needed (ex: external, internal, taxing authorities, etc.)
  • Assist with identification, documentation and execution of key controls over provisioning and compliance processes (SOX & MAR.)

Compliance:

  • Assist with preparation and / or review of federal or state income tax compliance.

Automation:

  • Assist with ongoing tax transformation and robotics initiatives.
  • Assist with Global Tax initiatives, where needed.

Competencies:

Following are the competencies for Tax Accountant in the US Life / Non-Life Tax Group:

  • Preferred:
    • CPA or similar designation a plus
    • 1-3 years of public accounting a plus
    • 1-3 years Insurance Tax / Financial Services Tax experience a plus
    • 1-3 years investment tax experience a plus
    • REIT experience a plus
    • MST or qualified background a plus
  • Required:
    • 1-3 years tax provisioning and external reporting experience required
    • 1-3 years Federal and state tax income tax preparation experience required
    • Ability to research tax issues and formulate initial conclusions
    • BS in Accounting required
    • Ability to manage deadlines in an effective and efficient manner
    • Expected to collaborate and work as part of a larger team; promote and build a team environment; help to manage resources effectively; be proactive in building tax technical expertise within group & monitor relevant processes for continued improvement and potential risks throughout the year.
    • Effective communication skills
    • Team player and positive attitude a must
