A logistics company with offices in NY and NJ has an open position for a Staff Accountant for either the Edison, NJ or Queens, NY office.
SUMMARY: Computes and prepares data for journal entries, general ledger, and related
financial statements; performs day-to-day general accounting functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Prepare payment templates and ensure accuracy of suppliers’ wire instructions,
monitor execution of payments by reviewing current bank balances.
? Prepare the cash projections daily.
? Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice verification,
coding, and approval workflows.
? Request and review monthly vendor statements & reconcile any differences.
? Assist in maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, Candidate will
ensure financial data is recorded timely and accurately.
? Perform regular bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of cash transactions and
balances.
? Track and report on daily sales activities, ensuring the accuracy of revenue records.
? Assist with external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and
supporting information for auditors.
? Work closely with other departments, including sales and management, to support
financial operations and ensure accurate reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
? 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in Freight Forwarding.
? Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
? Experience with accounting software SAP.
? Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, multi-tasker and the ability to
prioritize tasks effectively.
? Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
? Knowledge of inventory and cost accounting is highly preferred.
? Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
