Job Description: Senior Tax Analyst
Job Duties:
Tax Compliance Expertise: Utilize 4+ years of extensive experience in Tax Compliance, ensuring adherence to State and Local tax laws across various tax types, including Sales & Use Tax, with a strong focus on minimizing tax risk exposure.
Tax Returns Management: Oversee the review and filing of sales/use tax returns, conducting timely and accurate reconciliations for tax accounts, such as Sales/Use, GST/HST, PST/QST, Income Tax, and Property Tax.
Tax Law Proficiency: Stay current with evolving tax laws, ensuring documentation and knowledge management to adapt to tax law changes for multiple tax types.
Audit Management: Analyze and prepare audit findings, collaborating with tax authorities to reduce audit liabilities, thus safeguarding the company's financial interests.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Foster strong cross-departmental relationships through interdepartmental training and support to establish best practices in tax-related matters.
Tax Software Oversight: Act as the primary contact for tax software maintenance and updates, ensuring the seamless functioning of the tax engine and software systems.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; however, relevant experience in lieu of education will be considered.
Professional Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in tax research, tax return preparation, or public accounting, with a specific focus on tax compliance and Sales & Use Tax.
Communication and Teamwork: Exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team, as well as with internal and external stakeholders.
Excel Proficiency: Showcase advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex/advanced functions.
Industry Knowledge: Display familiarity with ERP frameworks such as SAP, with a preference for experience in the manufacturing industry.
Tax Software Familiarity: Possess working knowledge of tax software tools like Avalara (Cert Capture and AvaTax) and the ability to multitask, prioritize workloads, and exercise sound judgement in tax-related activities.
